This is My Altar of Remembrance — Trusting God For Tomorrow Because of What He Did Before
“Then Samuel took a stone and set it up…and called its name Ebenezer; saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us.’” — 1 Samuel 7:12 NKJV
Life is funny sometimes.
It pushes us into places of deep trust — places where only God could show up and make a way.
This blog post is not just words — this is my altar. My personal reminder. My Ebenezer stone.
It’s proof that the same God who provided before, will surely provide again.
Building Altars in Scripture
Throughout the Bible, whenever God showed up big for His people — they built altars.
Noah — Genesis 8:20
After surviving the flood, Noah’s first response? He built an altar to the Lord.
Abraham — Genesis 12:7
When God promised him land and a future, Abraham built an altar.
Isaac — Genesis 26:25
He built an altar after God appeared and reassured him in a foreign land.
Jacob — Genesis 35:7
He built an altar to mark the place where God answered him in his distress.
This was their pattern:
→ God showed up → They built an altar → Future generations remembered.
My Personal Altars
Looking back, I see moments where God provided for me in ways I can’t explain.
→ When my family was traveling with very little and somehow God carried us.
→ When my husband and I needed school fees for our boys — and just in time, He provided.
→ When the house was empty and resources were low — and somehow, God sent provision.
Sometimes it didn’t happen instantly. The letting go part? Not easy.
But I’ve learned that trusting God looks like moving on with your day, praising Him anyway, and making do with what you have — until He shows up.
Why Altars Matter
Altars remind us and future generations:
→ God is trustworthy.
→ He is still writing our story.
→ Even when we wander, He welcomes us back.
Just like Israel — no matter how far they drifted — they always knew where Home was.
