What If It’s Not the Enemy… But Old Trauma Surfacing Before the Breakthrough?
By Vera M| Boldly Becoming Blog
Let me ask you something.
What if the delays and disruptions in your life aren’t just spiritual warfare?
Yes—we do have an enemy. The Bible is clear about that.
But what if what you're facing right now isn’t an attack…
What if it’s a healing opportunity?
What if the very thing that looks like a setback… is actually the setup?
Could This Be the Clean-Up Before the Breakthrough?
Recently, I found myself facing what looked like yet another disappointment. You know the kind—the "this is it!" moment that suddenly crashes, leaving you confused, bruised, and wondering if you're the problem.
But instead of spiraling this time, I heard something different in my spirit:
✨ What if this isn’t the enemy fighting you… what if it’s trauma surfacing so it can be healed before the blessing lands?
Sis… what if the heartbreak, the delay, the emotional flare-up, the sudden fear or sabotage wasn’t punishment—but preparation?
What if God is not denying you but detoxing you?
You’re Clearing Space.
Before new wine is poured, the old wineskin must be dealt with (Matthew 9:17).
Before the promised land, there’s always a wilderness.
Before the ring, there’s a refining.
You’re not being punished. You’re being positioned.
Think about it: how can we receive healthy, abundant love when our old beliefs still scream we’re not worthy? How can we thrive in the next season if we’re still carrying survival patterns from the last?
That “almost” relationship, that “almost” breakthrough—it didn’t come to tease you.
It came to mirror you.
To show you, Yes, what you prayed for exists!
But also—Here’s what still needs healing so you can hold it when it comes.
The Pain Was Proof It Exists
The man who treated you softly, even if it didn’t last—proved that kind of love is out there.
The opportunity that looked so close—it was a confirmation that you’re not crazy to hope.
The butterflies you felt, the vision you saw, the upgrade your soul responded to—it’s real.
Don’t let the disappointment convince you otherwise.
Let it EMPOWER you to keep becoming the version of you that can RECEIVE it fully.
Clean Before You Climb
When the good starts to show up—don’t let fear make you run.
Don’t let your past convince you you’re not ready.
Don’t let the enemy trick you into calling healing warfare.
Sometimes what you’re feeling isn’t demonic resistance—it’s inner residue.
It’s your soul asking: “Can we finally let this go so we can go higher?”
This is the emptying before the overflow.
The trigger before the triumph.
The mirror before the marriage.
The rise before the reward.
Take the Lesson. Keep the Hope.
I took notes from the “almost” stories in my people who awakened parts of me I didn’t know were there, opportunities that almost landed, soft moments that faded too soon.
And instead of bitterness, I chose to believe:
✨ If it appeared in my life, it means it’s already possible.
✨ If it was mirrored, it’s available.
✨ If I felt it, I can call it in again—and better.
10 Affirmations for Healing While Hoping
1. I am being prepared.
2. What looked like a loss is a lesson and a sign of alignment.
3. I am in divine timing.
4. My heart is safe to hope again.
5. I release fear and make space for abundance.
6. I am worthy of soft, consistent, intentional love.
7. I am becoming the version of me that my blessings are looking for.
8. I do not fear the “almosts”—they prove I’m close.
9. Healing qualifies me.
10. The life I desire exists—and I am being led straight into it.
Final Thoughts: It’s Not Just a Fight—It’s a Furnace
We like to rebuke the devil when things go wrong. And sometimes, yes—it’s warfare. But sometimes, sis—it’s a furnace of refining.
What if the fire is God’s mercy in disguise—burning away what can’t go with you?
Don’t confuse cleansing with cursing.
Don’t confuse surfacing with sabotaging.
Don’t confuse the “almost” with rejection—it’s confirmation.
You are on the right path. The trauma is not proof you’re failing. It’s proof God trusts you enough to heal before you reign.
Your real season is not far—it’s just waiting for the healed version of you.
